Accessibility

TheoRee is built to be usable by as many people as possible, including people who rely on a keyboard, a screen reader, or a calmer, lower motion view. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, and we treat that as an ongoing commitment rather than a finished box to tick.
What is supported today
- Every interactive control is a real button or link, so it can be reached and used with the keyboard, with a visible focus outline.
- Correct and incorrect quiz answers are shown with a check mark and a cross as well as colour, and the result is announced to screen readers, so the meaning does not depend on colour alone.
- A Calm mode in your profile turns the animated pioneers into still pictures and turns off the glow and floating across the app.
- If your device is set to reduce motion, TheoRee follows that setting automatically and quiets its animations.
- Pictures carry text descriptions, and the page language is set for screen readers.
What we are still working on
Some parts need more work, and we would rather say so plainly. A few of the algorithm animations and arcade games are still being improved for full keyboard and screen reader use, and some diagrams still need richer text descriptions. We are working through these, and we plan an independent accessibility review as the platform grows.
